Food insecurity is a growing concern across the U.S. Research shows that food insecurity and related health issues cost the economy more than $1.1 trillion every year in healthcare and lost productivity. This statistic emphasizes the urgent need for programs that recognize the essential link between nutrition and health.
During the event, the Food is Medicine team had meaningful discussions with members of Congress, including Senator Tim Kaine, emphasizing the need for improved nutrition education, research, and community partnerships across Virginia.
